Held in Portland, Oregon, the Summit Creative Awards recognizes and celebrates the creative, marketing and advertising achievements of small and medium sized marketing and advertising agencies worldwide with annual billings under $30 million. Celebrating its 25th year, the Summit Creative Award has firmly established itself as the premier arbiter of creative excellence for firms of this size and has become a coveted honor.
This year’s panel of esteemed international judges included professionals representing the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Germany, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Entries in 13 major categories are judged against a stringent set of standards. During its blind judging (entering company names withheld) the Board of Judges search for and identify innovative and creative concepts, strong executions and user experience, and the ability to communicate and persuade. Winners were selected in a wide-range of categories from print and broadcast to online advertising and social media.
“Winning a Summit Creative Award is a significant accomplishment in ones career. With vetted judges, tough judging criteria, two-phase blind judging processes, and strict bylaws limiting winners, only deserving entries receive recognition. The creative work this year was outstanding. Watching the judges debate the details of individual entries in the run-off for the top spots was inspiring.” – Jocelyn Luciano, Managing Director for the Summit International Awards
Based in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Good Bishop Communications and Rebel Soul Creative are led by the husband and wife team of Corey Brewis and Cynthia Walker. The two firms operate as a strategic brand, marketing and creative communications collective preaching brand disruption and bold moves to help business and community leaders expose the beating heart of their brands and discover their WHY (why they matter, why anyone should care and why their customers can’t live without them) in order to build stronger, more loyal audiences for maximum success.
Rebel Soul Creative and Good Bishop Communications won in the category of Public Service Print Campaign for their Intimate Partner Violence Prevention campaign creative on behalf of The Families First Society of Fort Saskatchewan, and in the category of Complete ReBrand for Dear Dog Treats.
The Families First Society of Fort Saskatchewan serves families in need through early childhood development assistance, parenting programs and family support. The public service print campaign was a critical component of a multi-year project called ‘Our Way Forward’, funded by Status of Women Canada, in which Families First Society coordinated and implemented a collective community response to intimate partner violence.
“These incredibly poignant posters and advertisements are used by agencies in Fort Saskatchewan and throughout the region as a means to start important conversations. They are a silent yet powerful reminder that people in our community care, and that there is help available when someone decides it is their time to reach out. Families First and the strategic partners involved in Our Way Forward are so grateful to Rebel Soul Creative and Good Bishop Communications for their compassion, empathy and professionalism throughout this project. This campaign is a treasured legacy to our community, and we could not be more proud of you Cynthia and Corey! Congratulations!” – Heather Boonstra, Executive Director for the Fort Saskatchewan Families First Society
Continuing this theme of education and care, the Dear Dog Treats brand serves to teach quality just as much as it proves to deliver it. Using no additives or fillers, salts, spices, by-products or unreadable ingredients, Dear Dog Treats are all bite and no bark… just locally-raised Alberta beef, goat, lamb and chicken – slowly smoked to prevent bacteria while retaining full flavour and aroma, protein and nutrition. The end result is truly a brand communicated with thought, and a safe, healthy and effective treat – whether to train, reward or just to please.
“The news of this award has given us goosebumps. It couldn’t have happened to better people. Cynthia and Corey are a fantastic duo, and we at Dear Dog Treats wish to thank them for believing in us and giving us a brand, a look and a voice we will forever be proud of.” – Dear Dog Treats founder and local activist Dennis Stelmack
